2002 Sea Ray 460 Boat Transport

Brief History of Sea Ray

Sea Ray was founded in 1959 by Cornelius Nathaniel Ray in Oxford, Michigan along the banks of the Great Lakes. It was one of the first US brands to utilize new technology such as the use of fiber glass. The company began building boats with a maximum of 16 feet in length with the employees being entirely comprised of family. These boats came out of a small fiberglass shop that Ray had purchased, which also made coffins and golf cart bodies. Eventually, he decided to turn his attention and focus on building boats. Ray had contacted professionals in modeling & design at General Motors and hired one to help with the interior design and upholstery for his vessels. In December of 1986, Ray had sold the company to Brunswick Corporation. Throughout all of this though, Ray paid special attention to the basics. This included building a quality vessel and having special customer service with sincere appreciation for his clients.
