Morgan Sailboat Transport

“Audrasea Venture” is a Morgan 462 that I transported from Scenic Bay Marina in Bayview, Idaho to Eldean Shipyard in Macatawa, Michigan. The Morgan sailboat transport preparation was completed prior to my arrival in Bayview and was done well. The owner had removed the sails, rigging, and spreaders and stowed them below. To prevent any potential damage we removed the masts from the deck. We then secured them in mast hangers to either side of the trailer. Lastly we had to remove the bow pulpit in order to remain under legal height for the trip to Michigan.

Bottom Cleaning

Soon after the crane company lifted the Morgan out of the water the owner went to work pressure washing. It is extremely important to ensure the boat is clean for transport. Removal of all aquatic life in order to avoid transporting invasive species is a must. Inspection stations throughout the country check for this and proper preparations can ensure there are no costly delays during transport.

Bayview, Idaho

Scenic Bay Marina and Resort is a nice quiet location in northern Idaho. Access by truck is a little tight as to be expected with any inland lake location but easily manageable. The owner had loading done by a local crane company as there isn’t a travel lift on the lake. This is your place if your in search of quiet and off the beaten path.

Macatawa, Michigan

Eldean Shipyard‘s location is in Southwestern Michigan on the South Shore of Lake Macatawa, where it joins Southern Lake Michigan. It is what I would consider a full service shipyard. They are extremely capable of providing services for both power and sailboat transport.
