1976 Sabre 28 Marine Transport

Brief History Behind Sabre & the Sabre 28

Sabre Yachts was founded in 1970 by Roger Hewson who designed and built the first Sabre 28. Hewson introduced the Sabre 28 to the market in 1971 at the Newport Boat Show in Rhode Island. 588 Sabre 28’s were built in the following 15 years of production. After the success of the Sabre 28, the continuation of their sailboat line was underway with the Sabre 34, first built in 1976. Later in 1989, Sabre broadened their market from just sailboats to power boats as well. In 2012, they ended their production of sailing vessels for the time being.
